When you start to enter the working world, for example starting to look for internships, many times you hear names of positions that you don't really know what they entail.
We have also been in that situation because saying that you are a Data Analyst is very cool, but what is behind it?
Also, in some companies interns can end up doing things that are not so related to what the job description initially indicated.
In this blog post, we wanted to shed some light on what an intern at Zensor does in the Data Analytics sector (although sometimes there can be some differences in the projects they are assigned to depending on their skills and background).
For this, we talked to Anabel, one of our interns at Zensor.
What has your work consisted of since you arrived at Zensor?
‘’In a nutshell my work consists of optimizing the execution time of the programs that Zensor uses to analyze the data, by changing the programming language we are using".
What have you learned by doing this?
‘’When you learn programming in college, you learn it theoretically. Most of the time, there's a problem and a solution, and you know what you have to do to get to that solution. However, when you work, most of the time you have a problem but there are multiple ways to solve it. That's when you need creativity to find the best solution to the problem."
What did you enjoy the most?
‘’To throw myself into solving problems with original ideas. It is said that you are either more of a creative person or not, however there are multiple ways in which you can improve your creative skills. During this project I have developed new abilities related to problem solving.’’
What was the most difficult part for you?
''Learning to be self-sufficient. This was my first job, so acquiring the necessary skills to be self-sufficient at the beginning was a bit difficult, as you can feel a bit inexperienced. However, it's completely normal and it's also rewarding to come up with a solution on your own that works (although sometimes it's good to have a colleague's opinion)''.
Did your expectations exceed the actual experience?
''Without a doubt, because I like my tasks and I enjoy the work environment. I think I have learned a lot from my colleagues and the projects I have been assigned and that's a great feeling''.
Thanks to Anabel for sharing this reflection with us, and we hope she continues to learn and grow professionally at Zensor!
