It’s time to say goodbye!
Four of our interns are leaving Zensor after 6 months. Wow time flew!
Damiano, Kasia and Paula supported the Data Analysis team and Sarah worked in the Online Marketing department. Kasia did her internship remotely from Italy, while Sarah, Paula and Damiano moved to Brussels.
- What was the most inspiring thing you did at Zensor for you?
- Damiano: It was interesting to see the process of extracting information out of the raw data.
- Paula: That with some straightforward data engineering you can really help a client and create sustainable value for the company.
- Sarah: I was allowed to participate at the Asset Performance 4.0 in Antwerp in October. It was a huge honour for me to be part of the online and offline marketing preparations for this trade show and get to see the result in person at the end.
- Kasia: It's impossible to pinpoint one thing. The most inspiring was the fact that I could see with my own eyes the impact and use of the analysis me and my team are making. It is an incredibly practical internship in which all the actions you take matter and make a difference.
- In three words, how would you describe working at Zensor?
- Damiano: young - informal - Jupiler lover: Your appearance does not matter, it matters of what you are capable. And for the Juplier lover, it is a fun fact about Zensor since all the project repositories have that in the name. 🇧🇪🍻
- Paula: bring some cookies: Be careful about leaving your workspace unattended and not locking your screen, because then you have to assume that someone writes in the group chat that you have to bring cookies with you. Because Zensor is really looking out for security of your data!
- Sarah: appreciative - young - innovative: Everyone really values the work you do for Zensor and assists you whenever you need help!
- Kasia: Embracing, creative, meaningful
- What surprised you during your time at Zensor?
- Damiano: Omicron, because then remote working was obligatory. But I was very happy that the restrictions were loosened for my last two weeks at Zensor which meant I could come to the office full-time.
- Paula: That Zensor’s lunch time is so early (12.00 pm). I am from Croatia, and I feel like in general in the south of Europe people tend to have lunch around 14.00 pm.
- Sarah: In Germany we usually start working at 7.30 am or 8.00 am, whereas most people here start working at 9.00 am - 09.30 am.
- Kasia: A lot of things (only in a good way!). In terms of work: combination of physics with data analysis and machine learning and engaging me as an intern straight from the beginning into meaningful tasks. In terms of the company itself: incredibly helpful and patient employees, from whom I learnt every single day. Warm and amazingly friendly atmosphere that I could feel even while working remotely. Work environment focused on our development and our independence.
- What experiences did you gain during your time at Zensor?
- Damiano: Since my background is from computer science, I have never questioned a lot what data represents and why. But here at Zensor I’ve learned how to interpret it and to extract it.
- Paula: Getting in touch with the infrastructure sector and applying my acquired methodical mathematical skills from university in the area of predictive maintenance.
- Sarah: For sure my graphical skills expanded by creating social media posts, videos, brochures and presentations. But I also gained a lot of intercultural skills, due to working with so many different nationalities.
- Kasia: Working on the data coming from very versatile fields, ability to analyse it insight fully and visualize it in the clear, coherent way for the client. Thanks to that I learnt a lot of practical things that are not taught on the university. Time management and communicating skills are something that improved greatly as well. A lot of interesting facts from engineering and physics field.
- To whom would you recommend starting an internship at Zensor?
- Damiano: To someone who is very interested in physics, engineering and applied math.
- Paula: To everyone who would like to work in a very international and welcoming environment.
- Sarah: I would recommend the internship to everyone who wants to be part of a very dynamic international team and who is willing to apply their theoretical knowledge from their studies into practice. This is no internship where you have to make coffee; you have your own projects and can bring in your ideas.
- Kasia: To everyone who wants to gain a full hands-on experience starting in data analysis. By "full" I do mean a full package! Starting from interpreting raw data, cleaning it, finding the way to analyse it best; ending on presenting the results in the visual forms in a clear approachable way, which are then used by the client. It's an incredibly rare opportunity to experience such a complete process being an intern, supported by people who are a real professionals in what they do, and I am very grateful I could part of Zensor for a little while.
